Is a synthetically derived peptide that has been showing up in dozens of skin care and makeup products, especially those claiming to have a muscle-relaxing effect similar to Botox injections. Manufactured by a Spanish company Centerchem (www.centerchem.com). According to their Web site, "Argireline works through a unique mechanism which relaxes facial tension leading to a reduction in superficial facial lines and wrinkles with regular use. Argireline has been shown to moderate excessive catecholamines release Lipotec. It.s a hexapeptide (a chain of 6 amino acids) attached to the acetic acid residue. It is derived from proteins and works as a humectant in skin creams. It works by inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters. When applied to the skin, Argireline relaxes facial tension leading to the reduction in facial lines and wrinkles with regular use. Does it work? I seriously doubt any of that is true. There hasn.t been any research published substantiating any part of it. However, even if it were remotely possible, that wouldn.t be very good news for you because you wouldn't want an ingredient without safety data, efficacy documentation, or independent research messing around with your catecholamines. |
